Well, Kevin was supposed to go to this game with me, but his personal complications got in the
way. It didn't help that the game had been moved up an hour to accommodate Fox Sports' national
broadcast of the game. Since I really wanted to see one of these games with Cleveland, and I'd
already purchased the tickets, I decided to go anyway and try out my new parking strategy.
The parking strategy worked like a charm. I parked for free on the street about eight blocks from the
dome. Many of the surface lots and ramps are this far away, so I'd really lost nothing, and gained a
few bucks for hot dogs.
After picking up the tickets (ordered again on the web), I found a scalper and got $5 for the ticket
Kevin would not be using (hey, it's better than nothing), then headed inside.
The Twins were leading the division over Cleveland by only half a game going into the contest, and
had split the first two games of the four-game series. In the end, the Indians proved too much for
the Twins, winning this game and the next to win the series 3-1.
The upper deck club section still proved to be a great place to watch the game, though it's about
impossible to get a Malt Cup up there. There are simply no vendors! Admittedly, the upper deck isn't
full, but there were plenty of people -- and at least one who would have jumped at the chance for a
snack.
On the bright side, the concession stands up there aren't very crowded, especially during the late
innings, so it was relatively easy to get out and back during a pitching change.
Clearly, the Twins will have to figure out how to beat these guys if they want to win the division.
Maybe next time...
